Phil Sharp is a project leader and product designer at IDEO, a global design and innovation consultancy and one of BusinessWeek‘s 20 most innovative companies. In these roles, Phil has helped organizations generate new ideas, build their brands, and shape their innovation processes.
Phil’s work has spanned a variety of industries and organizations, ranging from consumer packaged goods to medical products to consumer electronics to government agencies. He has worked with both Fortune 500 companies and smaller clients, public-sector as well as private. His projects have produced concepts and strategies for products, services, brands and organizations.
Phil’s passion resides at the proverbial drawing board, the earliest stages of concept strategy and development. He has worked on a variety of strategic efforts with organizations such as Proctor & Gamble, General Electric and Steelcase. He has lead projects with Acer to generate new mobile device strategies, with the Centers for Disease Control to help curb childhood obesity, and with ConAgra Foods to set new directions for their brands. He has also helped organizations such as Eli Lilly improve their internal processes and become more innovative and design-oriented.
Phil holds two masters degrees from Stanford University, one in Management Science & Engineering, which focuses on the intersection of business and engineering, and one in Mechanical Engineering. He has also studied Computer Science.
Phil lives and works in Silicon Valley, California. He is married to an incredibly cool wife and has two fabulous kids.
